March 1, 2022 (Tokyo, Japan) – Wacom Co, Ltd., announced that its digital pen technology has been adopted by Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S22 Ultra, the premium flagship smartphone, as well as the versatile tablets Galaxy Tab S8, S8+ and S8 Ultra.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra is the first Galaxy S series phones with a built-in S Pen, bringing the beloved functionalities of the Galaxy Note and S series together. Simply eject the S Pen from the bottom of the smartphone to take notes, sketch, turn handwriting into text, or edit content with precision. Thanks to the improved prediction algorithm, it’s the fastest, most responsive S Pen ever. With 70% lower latency, the S Pen on the Galaxy S22 Ultra is much faster than that of S21 Ultra(*1) , and you can write or draw incredibly smoothly.
(*1) In case of Galaxy S22 Ultra only, tested on Samsung Notes.
Galaxy Tab S8, S8+ and S8 Ultra all come with Galaxy’s industry-leading S Pen included, with the biggest leap in S Pen responsiveness(*2) compared to previous Tab S devices. The updated S Pen magnetically snaps to the back of your Galaxy Tab S8 series to charge, so it’s always close and ready when you need it. With the biggest, boldest, most immersive Galaxy tablet ever, maximize your productivity and unleash your creativity by using the expansive display of the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra as your canvas, and a Galaxy smartphone as a palette. This seamless interaction between the two devices brings an analog feel to your digital experience. (*2) Galaxy Tab S8 has 30% lower latency compared to Tab S7 when measured on Samsung Notes. Latency speed of 2.8ms measured for Tab S8 Ultra (14.6’’) and Tab S8+ (12.4’’) models when using Samsung Notes.
With more than a decade of innovation dedicated to bringing the most powerful, pen-to-paper-like experience to Galaxy users, S Pen is the ultimate companion for creativity and productivity on Galaxy phones and tablets. Beyond writing and drawing, S Pen can be used as the go-to tool for greater control of your device, allowing you to control your music, move around presentations, trigger the camera for a selfie, or use Air Actions to interact with your device in intuitive, powerful ways. It really is the perfect extension of the tablet experience that gives you amazing levels of control.
“The partnership between Wacom and Samsung has continued to evolve as the Galaxy portfolio undergoes transformation. We started providing our pen technology to the Galaxy Z Fold3 last year and are excited to see that the Galaxy Note user’s favorite built-in S Pen is now in the Galaxy S22 Ultra,” said Nobu Ide, Representative Director, President & CEO of Wacom. “We are excited to see what the future has in store for us as the application of digital pen and digital ink expands,” he added.
